How to build a garage wardrobe?

Hi I’m looking at building a garage wardrobe with 2 to 3 vertical partitions with a sliding door that can be used to store shoes on 2 vertical sections and one section top half for jackets and bottom for groceries and last section for tools and machinery. Please advise the kind of wood that can be used or possibly board. Would need it be either white or natural pine finish. Also considering putting rattan cane on the sliding doors for better airation. Wanting bottom drawers as well.

The best option would likely be to use white melamine-coated particleboard for the carcass and shelf dividers. This will give you the adjustability you need for dividing the internal space and create a solid, durable structure. For the doors, you could either use matching melamine panelling or custom-make a door frame from Primed DAR Pine, which would allow you to insert rattan infills for better ventilation.

Since you might be constructing the unit from particleboard, it’s worth checking out our range of flatpack storage cabinetry. You may find units that suit your needs and wouldn’t be much more expensive than buying the materials to build from scratch. This could save you a lot of time and effort, letting you focus on the internal modifications and creating specialised doors for airflow.
