Hi, I'm building or at least attempting to build a loft in my bedroom & I'm about to put the support beams in place, there are 3 which will run from Left to Right for a length of 2.4 metres & are 1.6 metres from the ground. The timber I'm using is 2.4 in length, 12 cm wide & 6 cm thick, so they're sufficient for supporting the bed structure, however the problem is that 2 of the 3 are slightly warped, not for the entire length, just at a few points in the middle, so in order for them to be flat and not effect the timber slats that will run horizontally across them, I need to hold one side down, which makes it flat and level but obviously with a gap of approx 1 - 2 cms for a length of about a metre. My question is what do I use to best fill the gap & whether or not this is significant enough to effect the structure, once the gap has been filled. The easy solution is to simply get new timber for the beams that isn't warped but the ones I have were fairly expensive to buy & not easy to get into upstairs unit, so I would rather continue with them if possible. Is there a better solution that I'm not seeing, chances of that are high lol, so I thought I would simply ask others with far greater knowledge and experience, thank you, Dean.
Ps I will try & post some images today.
