For a few weeks now, water has been leaking in a small trickle into the bowl after the cistern has finished filling up. When I switch off the water supply and the cistern is emptied, there's no leak.
Initially I thought it was because the flapper/seal/seating washer was old and worn out so I replaced it but the leak still happened. I've tried around five different washers in case I had the wrong size but hasn't resolved the issue.
I've got the same toilet in the second bathroom so I tried switching the flushing mechanisms over. The water is still trickling in the first bathroom and not in the second bathroom so doesn't seem to be related to the flushing mechanism but rather something in the first bathroom cistern.
When I push down on the square vertical pipe thing, which puts pressure on the seal, the trickling stops. Does that mean it's related to the base of the cistern where the water runs out? If so, how can I fix/replace it?
