How to cover a gap between desk and cabinetry?

Hey everyone, my wife and I have been working on a built-in for our home office and have almost completed most of what we planned to do but are left with a few last bits of finishing items.

One of them I've been trying to get some suggestions on is how we could cover the gap between the desk and the cabinets on either side. The desk is 132 cm but the distance between the cabinets is around 135cm. So we have a small gap of 1.5cm on both sides of the desk.

Any suggestions on what we could do to cover it?

I would also suggest the same type of filler that @EricL has. I have used a similar couple of pieces when I installed some cabinets in my kitchen years ago to bridge the 40mm gap that I was left with. The quad that @Nailbag has mentioned has mentioned is also a good idea. The eyes wont see it once its installed.

Two options to consider. The first similar to @EricL suggested but with a much smaller timber moulding like this one. Painted a gloss white to match the desk or a matching colour for the cupboards. The 2nd is the one I am leaning towards and being more streamlined using equal angle power-coated aluminium, then using a white gap filler along the edges. I would glue either option over mechanical fastening.
