How to improve wall lights?

I thought cedar Batons made to cover the glass so filtered light would come through spaces in batons. It would just go over the existing frame. There is a tv with cedar surround in middle of these 2 wall light boxes so it would tie in with this. Thought and any suggestions how to start please?

Certainly sounds like a great idea — using cedar batons to cover the glass will help filter the light and definitely resolve that “x-ray screen” look. If surface mounting, you can tack the batons in place with small nails and use some adhesive to secure them as well. Just be very careful that the nails only go into the timber frame and not the glass itself. Alternatively, if fitting the batons within the frame, they could be stuck directly to the glass with Selleys 310g Liquid Nails Mirror Metal and Glass Adhesive.

When working around glass, it’s important to wear proper PPE: cut-resistant gloves, a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, closed shoes, and safety glasses. If you’re not confident working around glass, it would be best to enlist the services of a handyperson to install the batons safely.

I’ve created a rendering of what it might look like, and I really like the effect — it ties in nicely with the cedar surround on the TV.
