Hi, interested to install around 6 to 8 meters of the following timber edging:

Does it require edging stakes? Or just hammer them into soil? How far in is ideal?
It also mentioned 2 coats of timber oil with UV agent, is it decking oil? Would the following be suitable?https://www.bunnings.com.au/timber-protect-1l-water-based-decking-oil_p1420084

Yes, you’ll want to secure that edging with stakes rather than just hammering it straight into the soil. You could also bury it to around halfway if you prefer a neater look, but either way it will need something to hold it firmly in place. Something like the Jack 300 x 25mm Steel Edging Stake – 4 Pack or Rola Pak 300mm Timber Edging Stakes – 4 Pack would be ideal.
And yes, the decking oil you’ve selected would be suitable – it’s exactly what’s recommended to help protect the timber and keep it looking good outdoors. Two coats will give it a longer life.
