How to secure washing machine drain hose?

We got a new washing machine and now the drain hose regularly comes out of the pvc pipe and floods the cupboard and laundry. Unfortunately the hot and cold steel hoses are too far away from the flexible hose to secure with cable ties. Are there and other fittings/suggestions for securing the drain hose?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

Typically, you would utilise the spigot on the S-bend to connect your drain hose.

The rubber fitting on the end of a standard drain hose will usually just fit over this barb, and you can then lock it in place with a hose clamp.

If you'd like to stick with the same location, can I ask for the diameter of the pipe and the diameter of the tip of your hose?

You might be able to connect a Deks 50 x 40mm Reducer Rubber Joiner or Deks Industries 32 - 40mm PVC Rubber Jenco Joiner to the pipe and the drain hose.

Alternatively, you could just use 4 x cable ties. Loosely attach one to the pipe and one to the drain hose, then slip a cable tie through both of these cable ties and tighten them all up. Combined, the 4 cable ties should be able to hold the hose in place.

Wow! Thanks for the quick reply. Pipe diameter is tricky because it’s difficult to get to.circumference of pvc pipe is approx 145mm (46mm OD I think) and hose circumference is approx 87mm (28mm OD I think). Dex fitting looks like a nest easy solution. Thinking the 32x40 joiner?

Hi @SJ-perth,

The larger side of the Deks Industries 32 - 40mm PVC Rubber Jenco Joiner suits pipes from 38-46mm, so it should be perfect for the PVC pipe, but the smaller end suits 30-38mm, so it might be a bit too big to really grab the hose.

If you find this is the case, I'd just wrap a few layers of electrical tape around the hose to bulk it out a little bit before tightening the clamp over it.
