How to install angled wall door and jam?

We have a study to the left of our entryway. It is used for storage at the moment, but I am converting it to a spare bedroom. The issue I have is the doorway is straight on one side, and angled on the other. See diagram attached.

How would you recommend I install the door?

The best way to account for the angle from the pillar on the right would be to make an angled rip cut along a piece of timber framing using a table saw, then attach it to the pillar on the right so there is a flat surface in line with the opposite pillar. You can then attach your door jamb to the flat surface created with this angled framing member.

That single piece of framing is all you really need to make the rest of the job simple, so if you don't have a table saw, it might be worth contacting a handyperson or carpenter, or maybe even a local men's shed to cut this framing piece for you.

You would need to work out the angle of the pillar so that the timber can be cut to the correct angle. You can do this by marking a square line off the pillar on the left using a Framing Square, marking a square line off the original line to the inside corner of the pillar, then using a Craftright 300mm Digital Angle Finder to find the angle.

With that angle found, it would just be a case of cutting a timber to match the angle, then attaching it to the pillar, then installing the door jamb and door as normal.
