How to install a kitchen benchtop onto an exposed internal brick wall?

Hi team 🙂 

I have an old 70's apartment with internal brick walls. The mortar lines are quite deep and let's just say, it's not exactly square! I'm doing up the kitchen and was looking for suggestions on how to fill the gap between the kitchen benchtop and the brick wall. Installing it is no problem, it's more the issue of the gaps left once installed, what product to use, and how to make it look niceish! The walls will be painted (not raw brick).

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Did you have any photos of the wall you could upload? Perhaps you could place the benchtop or a flat object against it so we can see how big the gap you are dealing with is?

The best solution would be to use a tool like this Tracer Proscribe to mark out the contours of the wall, then use a jigsaw to cut the benchtop so that it follows these contours more closely. Any small gap that remains could be covered with a gap filler such as No More Gaps.

This is a fairly advanced technique, but with some careful marking and a bit of practice, you should be able to do it.

If the gaps aren't huge, you could also just use No More Gaps in a suitable colour to match.
