How to extend flue?

Got these double flue's installed but I am not happy with how one is on a slight angle

it was worse than this before I had to put a piece of flat bar and hold it

But as you can see the mushroom caps are hititng each other so I cant get them as straight as possible

Called the plumber and apparently all his tools have been stolen just the day after he installed my flues so his not coming back to fix

But I feel it should be pretty easy "IF" I can get the right parts

These flue's suit a 200mm duct so I need like an extension steel pipe to go over the top or inside the pipe. So then I can fit raise the height just enough for the musroom cap to sit higer then the right hand one. This should allow me to make them straigh

I found something but I cannot find this at bunnings but this should do the job:

Doesnt bunnings have this? Seems like they should as its a simple and commonly use material for flues. I cannot find anything like this at bunnings!

I also would prefer using a brace like my fire place which would be much easier to bend to the right angle

Where would I get these two parts do bunnings sell them. Looks like just angled steel but very thin. Need something as thin so I can bend to shape easy while I am on the roof.

Hi @PatDIY_Dad,

The closest thing I can find is this Scandia 8" x 1m Galvanised Steel Casing Length, which can be special-ordered. It appears to be much the same as the product you linked to, and at 8 inches in diameter, it should be 200mm like your duct.

The braces look like they are just some bent Australian Handyman Supplies 40 x 40 x 1.15mm x 2.4m Galvanised Pressed Angle. You'd just have to make a relief cut in one of the legs of the angle in order to bend it to the correct angle to act as a brace.

Thanks for the reply @JacobZ Id prefer getting the metrix type I linked which I also have to order so its exactly the same size. As it as to be a tight fit. Ita also half the price

Ill grab those angle brackets. Just hope they are easy enough to bend with pliers while I am up on the roof after the releif cut

Hi @PatDIY_Dad,

No worries, I just thought I'd mention the option.

You won't have any issues bending that angle. After the relief cut, you'll easily be able to bend it by hand. Just bring a pair of aviation snips with you so you can cut it to length and make your relief cut. Also, wear some gloves as it can be a bit sharp once cut.

After you've screwed it to the roof and the flue, I'd also recommend putting a screw through the overlap where the angle has been bent, as this will lock the angle in place so it can no longer bend.

I might also look at the option of attaching an eye screw and use a wire cable to secure it straight to. I have seen alot of commercial big flues use them and it might have more play of getting the right tension and angle

I just dont know what they are called but I am sure you know what I mean.

Hi @PatDIY_Dad,

It's more or less one of these Pinnacle Timber Hook/Eye Turnbuckle Balustrading Kits with some Pinnacle 2.0mm x 10m Marine Grade Stainless Steel Wire Rope.

You could piece together the exact same components with different Chain Connectors & Accessories, but the kit and rope above should work.

Apologies, I've made a mistake. You'd need a Swaging Tool for the kit I mentioned above.

The kit you have shown contains a length of wire rope, some wire rope grips and an Eye and Eye Turnbuckle. These components wouldn't require a swaging tool.

I got this kit but for 3mm cable:

I dont have that tool and wont spend $36 just for one job. ( also has bad reviews haha)

So I think ill just try pliers and crimp it all around small bits at a time. Can even solder the ends to make it secure

The flue is obviously is around so those semi circle fixings are for a flat service. Ill just have to use the pliers to bend them a little
