Planted in June teddy bear magnolias. I fertilised yesterday & noticed some of them are getting black on some of their leaves. Any help to identify the problem & how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.
Hi @MazPert,
I'm not 100% certain with that one, but your Teddy Bear Magnolias look like they could be experiencing a very similar issue to @aschmid5's in their post How to fix Magnolia black leaves, where the consensus was that it was sunburn.
Similar to the advice in that post, I'd say that a bit of shade protection and some consistent watering would go a long way. The application of fertiliser will also help to provide your magnolias with the nutrients to battle their ailment.
Allow me to tag our resident horticultural guru @Noelle to see what she thinks.

Hi @MazPert
Looks like exposure damage to me - possibly cold (frost?) damage as it's too early in the season yet for sunburn.
Jacob's recommendations for some shade protection and regular deep watering will go a long way to helping your plants to establish well and withstand everything the weather throws at them.
Ok great thanks for the advice 🙂
