How to assemble RYOBI 2400W crushing shredder?

Hi, yesterday I purchased a Ryobi 2400W RSH2445S Crusher Shredder.  Today putting it together 

and getting to know it, I removed the front cover of the unit to inspect the cutting blade and this 5cm rod

dropped into the shredding bin.  I have gone through all of the instructions together with goggles searches and cannot find anything as to where this bit is to be installed back into the unit and I do not want to start using the unit if this is a vital part The rod

That appears to be a key. There's one that keeps the blade cutter located on the drive shaft. Please do not operate the machine, as it poses a safety issue. This key should not come out under normal inspection. I would advise returning the machine to the store of purchase with your proof of purchase and let them know that the piece has fallen out. I trust they'll be able ot resolve the situation.
