How to relocate a folding clotheline to Colorbond fence?

Currently I have a clothesline that is supported by two post which are cemented into the ground.

I am wanting to move it, is it possible to screw the clothes line onto color bond friendly fence (screwing on the posts) or do I need to relocate the existing posts?

The clothesline is on that can fold down if needed.

How big is your clothesline? Is it a wall-mounted clothesline similar to this Hills 26m Single Folding Clothesline?

If so, then it would be fine to hang your clothesline from the fence as long as it utilises the posts.

I can't imagine both brackets of your clothesline would line up perfectly with two different posts, so you might have to run a piece of 70 x 35mm Outdoor Framing H3 Treated Pine between two posts, mounting to them with metal screws, then mounting your clothesline to the timber.

Yes it is similiar to the one pictured above.

With the timber, could I replace it for a metal strip/pole that closely matches a color bond color?

And the colour bond fence posts will be able to support the weigh with the clothesline and clothes?

Hi @Samc1234,

Yes, you could use metal rather than timber as long as it is suitably strong to span the distance between the poles. Something like this 20 x 20 x 1.6mm Square Hollow Section Steel in a suitable length for your purpose, which could be painted to match the fence, would work well.

When a clothesline is loaded up with wet clothes, it can be quite heavy, and Colorbond posts are made of relatively thin steel, so in hindsight, it might be best to reinforce the fence posts by adding some additional steel to the front. The same hollow section steel that I mentioned above could be attached to the posts with a series of metal screws, and then the horizontal bar could be attached to the hollow section steel.

I am leaning the other way and would move the posts.

When I get involved with stuff similar to this and rather than concrete the posts/poles - I use PVC pipe.

This gives the user several options later on when the clothes line needs to be replaced, relocated again or discarded.
