How to clad raised garden beds?

 hey guys, I’m trying to get a bit of a nicer look with this raised garden bed. Is it possible to attach something like WPC cladding to the garden beds, or would I have to build something in front of them. I’m wanting to relocate them to run along to back fence in the picture and plant some hedges. Cheers Tulle

Hi @tulle,

Although it is not the typical application for composite cladding products, I can't see any issues attaching it to your garden beds. Their weight would not be significant enough to cause any real issues with your garden bed.

It would likely be worthwhile having a slight air gap behind the cladding to allow water to drain and prevent mould growing between the cladding and the garden bed. This could be achieved by screwing some vertical timber battens to the garden bed and then screwing the cladding to those timbers. As long as the timber is H3 treated and thick enough to take a screw, then it should work. Even something like some 90 x 22mm Decking H3 Treated Pine should be fine.

You would then need to screw the timbers in place using suitably long metal screws, then use timber screws to screw the cladding to the battens.
