How to add water timer to snap-on connector?

Hi Everyone,

We have recently moved into a new house which I want to focus on bringing the lawn back to life. The outdoor garden tap seems to have a tap and snap connector built into the tap, which has been great for manual watering, however I want to set up a water timer which requires a screw connection. Can anyone suggest the best way to connect a screw connector to this? I have tried using a hose connector however the screw part of the timer is not long enough so it leaks quite a bit. 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

One solution is to connect a sprinkler adaptor to the tap timer, then use a Double Ended Hose Connector to attach the adaptor to the tap. You'll just have to confirm that the pieces match up in terms of diameter. You can do this by bringing the timer with you and measuring the diameter of the snap-on tap connector.

Another solution is to replace the tap with a Kinetic 15mm Brass Female Garden Tap, which has a threaded end that could connect to the tap timer, although this would typically require the assistance of a plumber. You might like to use our Garden Tap Installation service for this.
