How to fix gap in window trim?

I’ve noticed a large gap in the joins of my window where the seal has shrunk. I’m worried that pests (like ants or even mice) could get in through it.

Does anyone have advice on how to fix this? Is it something I could tackle myself, or would I need a window specialist/tradie to sort it out?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your windows weather trim.

I propose using CAgroup 50mm x 3m Weatherproof Byute Flash Flashing Tape. I suggest cutting a 100mm strip of the flashing tape and sticking it on the outside frame of the window. Make sure that the frame is totally clean before you stick the flashing on. The end of the flashing should be attached to the rubber end of the weather trim. Shape the flashing with your fingers so that it assumes the same shape as the rubber weather trim but do not stick it to the rendered wall. This will allow water to flow out but prevent rainwater from flowing in.
