bought a self-watering plant pot, a friend is wanting me to put it up on bricks (under the legs that come with it) she says when /if the concrete floor of the porch gets hot the legs could melt. Wouldn't the bricks get hot too??
Hello @juliegreen1960
A concrete floor will not melt your plastic flowerpot; melting occurs at temperatures much higher than what is typically found in a standard concrete floor environment, even in hot conditions. The plastic may degrade or become brittle over time due to prolonged exposure to the sun and weather, but this is a slow process of wear, not melting. But should you decide to put something under the flowerpot, I suggest using timber as it does not absorb as much heat as concrete. Brick actually absorbs and stores more heat than concrete surfaces.
