How to fix a chip in rendered brick wall?

Hey everyone,

I have a couple of small chips in the paint & brick of the house and want to fix them DIY. I was thinking of just painting over the tiny ones, and using some brick filler + paint on the slight bigger one - and maybe using a chisel to clean it up and make it easier to fill (the larger one is about 1.5cm high - not huge but would rather fix it so that it doesn't chip away over time).

I was just wondering if there was a better way to do it or if I'm on the right track, and if there were any recommended materials to use ?

You’re definitely on the right track. For the tiny chips, you can usually just touch them up with paint. A handy trick is to lightly stipple the wet paint with your brush so it leaves little peaks, as this mimics the rendered texture on the bricks and helps the repair blend in.

For the larger chip on the corner, I’d do exactly as you suggested and use a chisel to remove any loose material first. Once it’s clean, fill the area with a suitable exterior filler, such as Polyfilla Exterior Brick and Render Filler. While the filler is still wet, you can lightly stipple it with a brush or dab it with a sponge to recreate the surrounding texture. That way, once painted, the repair won’t stand out. After it’s dry, apply a primer over the repair before painting.
