What gyprock plaster glue for cornice?

I have to put some new cornice on some.bulk heads we just got made

The bulk head is timber board

Usually they use cornice cement but I already have gyprock plaster stud adhesive ( the blue stuff) so can I just use that instead of cornice cement?

Then screw the timber bulk heads to hold until cured?

The other half of the cornices will be glued to the existing plaster ceiling already painted

Would this be a problem?

Hi @pat83,

That’ll be fine to use. The stud adhesive will bond well to both the timber bulkhead and the painted plaster ceiling, provided the paint is sound and well-adhered (no flaking or chalking). The only thing to keep in mind is that the adhesive is blue, so if you get any squeeze-out at the joins it will be more noticeable than cornice cement, which dries white and blends in more easily.

As you’ve already planned, you’ll need to use a few screws or temporary fixings to hold the cornice in place until the adhesive cures properly. Once everything is set, you can just fill and paint over the fixings and any exposed adhesive, and it should look neat.

Oh the reply was a bit late I ended buying a bag of cornice cement

I asked the question of Facebook and all said to stick with cornice cement

I also bought the same cornice

Now I a bit worried that the cabinet maker didn't do the bulk heads correctly to make it easy for the cornice to look ni w against the existing cornice

But I am hoping I am just not seeing the right angle to cut my new cornice

How would I cut my new cornice so it sits nice against the existing one?

A Builders Edge Altamonte Mitre Template Plaster Tool is used to give you the correct angle @pat83. Because your existing cornice can't be cut with the required angle to meet perfectly, after you cut the new peice with the guide, you'll likely need to trim the back corner of the newly cut angle to get it to fit seamlessly.
