How to connect washing machine drain hose?

Hello I bought a brand new washing machine and would like to connect the  drainage hose to the nippe of under sink pipe.

however, the water keep coming out from the drainage. The installer said it is a pluming issue and the plumber said I should tighten it further

The installer tried a normal one and a screwed clump. May I ask what size of clump should I buy?

Hi @reynold,

From your images, it looks like you already have the correct size screw clamp for that spigot. That’s the most secure fitting for this type of connection. The first clamp you pictured doesn’t have much gripping force, so it’s not really suitable. As the plumber suggested, you’ll likely just need to tighten the screw clamp further to stop the leakage.

When doing this, it helps to lift the drainage hose slightly so it aligns with the diagonal entrance of the spigot. This makes the hose sit properly on the barb and ensures the clamp can grip evenly. Once it’s aligned, tighten the screw clamp securely, and that should give you a watertight connection. 

If you are not able to tighten the clamp sufficiently with a screw driver, you can use a spanner which will provide more torque.
