How to add waterproof membrane protective layer to storage room?

Hello experts!

During some abnormally heavy rains the downstairs storage area of my house had some water get in via the brickwork cracks and cause a bit of minor flooding.

I will be addressing the water pooling issue that stems from the yard but decided to throw a new layer of waterproofing membrane in the area.

(It looks like it was waterproofed a long, long time ago)

I have uploaded a photo of the area and product (Gripset Betta Heavy Duty Bitumen Membrane), but was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me if I can apply any sort of top layer paint etc.

I can't find anything on the data sheet regarding top coats.

I only ask as it's been about 3 weeks since I layed it and it's still quite tacky to the touch and still has a fairly heavy odour. 

Not to mention wanting to paint the whole area again anyway.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your bitumen membrane.

Three weeks is a long time, Betta Bitumen Membrane requires a 4-hour cure time to be ready, while a full cure for other applications can take up to 48 hours or longer, this can vary significantly with temperature and humidity. If the membrane is still tacky after the recommended cure time, it is often due to high humidity, low temperatures, too thick an application, or inadequate ventilation, preventing proper moisture release and solidification. 

I propose giving Gripset technical a call on 1800 810 123 or you can email them on techenquiries@gripsetbetta.com. The reasons that come to mind for the delayed curing is that the location has a very high humidity factor and poor air circulation. Perhaps Gripset can offer more Indepth reasons for the long delay in curing.
