How to fix loose piers?

A pier repair and underpinning company recommended replacement of about 38 piers for a 50 year property to strengthen foundation. The piers look fone to us and seem like packaging  and renailing should help address the gap due to soil movement.  The timber floorboards inside in the hallway show some gaps and cracks otherwise no issues. Looking  for cost effective  solutions to ensure structure is sturdy for next 5 years
