How to revive lawn after using Roundup?

About a week ago I put round up all over my lawn. It was a complete mistake I was meant to use the weed killer but instead used the wrong one.

I've watered it after I realised but this is the results from a week later. I'm watering daily, also used 2 liquid Fertilizers on it as well. Also used a aerator before putting the liquid Fertilizers on.

What else can I do to help get my lawn back from being yellow, brown and dead.

I'm so sorry to hear about this; it must be devastating.

It’s good that you’ve been watering the lawn, as this would have helped dilute the herbicide and may have prevented further damage. It appears that there are still some green patches, which means there’s a chance to recover parts of your lawn. At this stage, you can ease back on watering, since continuing to water heavily won’t help and could even stress the lawn further. Fertilisers should also be paused, as they won’t aid recovery right now and may make the stress worse. Instead, you could consider using a plant tonic, such as Seasol, which supports root growth and helps stressed grass bounce back.

Patience is key, so watch the lawn over the next few weeks to see if any green shoots return in the browned areas. Once new growth appears, you can focus on helping those patches recover. However, if the brown areas remain dead with only a few green shoots, it may be more practical to remove the dead grass and either reseed or lay new turf. Be aware that the patching process can take several months to a year to fill in fully, depending on the extent of the damage.

Yes that is the liquid Fertilizers I put on 2 days ago. And also used the brand powerfeed one as well.

How often should I be using these plant toxins on my lawn?

Also how often should I be watering if not everyday? And same with mowing when should I mow it? as I haven't mowed it since using the wrong chemical on it.

Sorry for all the questions. Just a little upset with myself for killing my lawn 🙁

To clarify @stirlingfam, Seasol is a tonic, not a fertiliser, so it’s safe to continue using it to help stressed grass recover. Powerfeed, on the other hand, is a fertiliser, and I would stop using it for now. With Seasol, you can apply around 100 ml into a 9-litre watering can every 2–3 weeks.

Watering should follow normal weather conditions rather than trying to flood the lawn to dilute chemicals. At this stage, the herbicide has already been diluted as much as possible. Only water when the lawn is dry; if it rains, don’t water, and in fine weather, you might water every two or three days, or once a day if it’s very hot. Overwatering now can harm the roots, so avoid excessive watering.

As for mowing, it’s best to leave the lawn for the next few weeks to encourage as much leaf growth as possible. Cutting the grass too soon would remove the leaves that are helping the lawn recover. Only mow if it becomes excessively long, and otherwise wait to see what type of regrowth occurs before taking further action.

You are certainly not the first person to apply a non-selective herbicide to a lawn and won't be the last, so don't be too hard on yourself.
