How to install verandah posts?

Hi all,

Does anyone know how these brackets work : Australian Handyman Supplies 75 x 75mm Internal Fixing Post Bracket
I don't have these exact brackets but very very similar. These brackets are to hold up my verandah post which are about 2.4m tall, galvanised steel. 
They are internal brackets, but I feel like dyno bolting these brackets into the slab and slipped the pole over the top is not enough??
Can someone clarify if it is enough to hold the pole in place or do I need to also bolt the pole to the bracket to hold it in place.

Obviously its gonna be a lot more structurally sound being bolted to the bracket but i feel like whats the point of the internal bracket if there are still bolts on the exterior. 

If someone could clear that up that'd be great.

If no one can clarify that's ok I'll go safer than sorry and bolt the pole to the bracket for security.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

The usual approach with the Australian Handyman Supplies 75 x 75mm Internal Fixing Post Bracket is to slip the post over them and put four short tek screws through the post into the bracket. 

It doesn't look as clean as without, but unfortunately, it is not safe to have a load-supporting post just sitting over the bracket. If strong winds get involved, then they can lift the post off the bracket if it is not connected.
