How to level a toilet floor?

Hi there, I’m doing up the smallest room and the floor bulges up slightly towards the toilet. It’s not damp and seems fine. Should I just level the floor and get a plumber to install the new toilet? Or should I get a plumber to look at it before installing the new toilet? Also what order should I do things? Should I install a new floor first or do the toilet first? Cheers!

Thanks for sharing your question about your toilet floor. It's possible that the bulge was placed in the flooring for drainage and waterflow. If the floor was washed the water would flow to the sides of the floor and not pool in the middle. But I don't see any drains for the water to flow into so it could have been an error while the flooring was being laid out.

The general sequence of events is usually the floor being prepared and levelled. It is then followed by the flooring with the toilet removed, this will allow the tiler to come up close to the waste pipe. Once the tiling has been finished, the new toilet is then installed over the tiles.

My thoughts follow along @EricL's line of thinking in reasons why the buldge is there.

I would probarlly get a plumber to come out and have a look before deciding on what type of toilet to go with (the spacing between the bowl and the wall can change with different models and the plumber should be able to tell you what type you want for your existing hole.)

Depending on the height you want the floor to end up (tiles plus leveling compound) with the step and the floor to the left it may change the height the tioet will sit so a plumber is a good first step.

The first job is to remove the toilet and level the floor keep your plumber in the loop as to what pan configuration will be installed
