How to rectify transition between tiles and carpet?

We recently got our bathroom done and are wondering how we could rectify this or if this fine? Our inspector says there is no need for a water stop between the bathroom and bedroom as only the wet area (shower area) needs a water stop and for the tile to be sealed to the perimeter of the wall. We tried looking it up online but are getting mixed answers. It looks very abrupt where the tile ends and meets with the carpet and this looks like we will not be able to wash our bathroom floor if water is allowed to flow off just like that?

A water stop is designed to stop water that has penetrated through your tiles from migrating along the membrane and coming out at the edge into the adjacent room. It’s not something that sits on top of the tiles to prevent water from washing across the surface. Sometimes there might be a slightly raised aluminium lip, but a true water stop sits under the tiles and is grouted over, so it’s not visible.

That said, your tiles end abruptly at the carpet, which creates a very sleek look often used in new construction instead of bulky transition trims. Is your main concern the edge of the tiles against the carpet, or the small area near the door where the tiles extend past the jamb and meet the carpet?

I don’t see it as a huge issue. Whether the finish is as it is now, or with an aluminium trim, you generally cannot flood a bathroom up to the door without water tracking onto the carpet. Your bathroom should be graded toward the drain, so normal cleaning and splashes will flow safely to the drain. It’s really just a matter of taking care when washing the floor in that area and keeping it damp rather than flooded, so you don’t get water running onto the carpet.

Overall, I wouldn’t be overly concerned with how it’s finished at the moment; it’s more about using a little care when cleaning near the doorway.
