How big do Canna Lillies grows?

Hi team - I purchased these plants at Bunnings and have planted them in my garden bed. They are Lilly’s I think. They are growing really well in an area that typically kills everything - I would like advice on how big or wide they grow ? And if they are a bit invasive for my other plants/natives. The area is right under a Shea oak tree so what survives there is what I want to keep. See pictures for current garden 🙂

Those plants are Cannas, which are often referred to as Canna Lillies. It’s great to hear they’re growing so well, especially in a spot where other plants haven’t done as well. 

Cannas are hardy, clumping perennials that grow from underground rhizomes, which makes them tough and resilient once established.

Most varieties grow between 60 cm and 2 metres tall, depending on the type, and each clump can spread to around 50 cm to 1 metre wide. Over time, they’ll gradually expand as the rhizomes multiply. They’re not considered invasive, but they can become quite dense if left alone for a few years. To keep them in check and healthy, it’s a good idea to lift and divide the clumps every couple of years, ideally in late winter or early spring.
