screws to fix the H3 100 x 38 rail to the metal post
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @samhsam. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about screws. We're currently in the process of adjusting our range of metal fixing screws, so I’d suggest speaking with the team members at your local store who can help find the most suitable option for your project. What you’ll want to ask for is something along the lines of a 50mm long TEK screw. Just ensure that the thickness of your timber and post combined is not less than 50mm. If it is, you'll need to go for a shorter option.
If the metal post you’re fixing into is a light-gauge steel, up to around 3 or 4mm thick, a self-drilling TEK screw will drive itself straight into the post without needing a pilot hole. However, if the post is made from a thicker section, you may need to pre-drill before inserting the screw. Please let me know if you have any questions.Mitchell
