How to close off irrigation pipe?

The dog decided to dig & I’m trying to find replacement piping to close off this section of pipe (which is now missing). The water pressure is pretty high so my attempts have failed at keeping anything securely on. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks

Doggos being doggos... 🙂 I had a dog that chewed up my grandmas hose consistantly lol Can still hear her telling him off!

Two ways I can think of to close off a pipe.

First - Toro 19mm Poly Barbed End Plug (there are different ones for diffent sized pipes.

Second - Fold the pipe over and use a hose clamp over the fold and do it up tight.

Hope one of these work.

Thanks Dave-1! I’d have been angrier had the dog not looked so happy with life…!

I’ve tried the Toro barbed end plug, which shot off into the neighbours garden somewhere, but will try folding the pipe over & see whether that works. Fingers crossed…!

The reason the pipe has blown off is because you're not using any retaining clamps. The plug blew off because it's not designed to go into a fitting, but piping. And using @Dave-1 suggestion to fold a short length of pipe in lieu of the plug will blow off too without a clamp.

So, you need a plug and a short length of pipe and 3 clamps, for the plug, the pipe at the connection and put one on the pipe thats on now that doesn't have one.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

@Nailbag has hit the nail on the head. The barbed plug will fix the issue, but it needs to go into a piece of poly pipe, not a poly fitting.

Grab a piece of poly pipe in the corresponding size, 3 clamps and the plug.

Disconnect that top pipe, clamp it in place, insert a short length of pipe in the tee and clamp it on, then insert the plug and clamp it on.

That should hold everything in place.
