Hi
The screws on my screen door are no longer attach to the wood as the holes have been stripped over years of use. I found some advice here https://www.workshop.bunnings.com.au/t5/Best-Advice/How-can-you-fix-a-loose-screw-in-timber/ta-p/135971 which is helpful. I will get hold of some wooden dowel to glue in and screw the screws into.
I wanted to know if there is a less expensive glue than the Gorilla glue suggested? Can I use something like liquid nails?

Thank you
Hi @MWalt,
For repairing stripped screw holes in your screen door, Gorilla Glue is generally the strongest option because it expands slightly as it cures and bonds very securely to wood, giving the dowel the best chance of holding the screw tightly over time. That said, if you’re looking for a less expensive alternative, you could try using Liquid Nails or a similar strong construction adhesive. It won’t expand like Gorilla Glue, but it should still provide enough grip for a dowel inserted into the hole.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @MitchellMc
I am in the same situation and was wondering if original screws + toothpicks + https://www.bunnings.com.au/selleys-100ml-aquadhere-pva-wood-glue-interior-adhesive-100ml_p1230622 will be enough?
I was looking at below options (selleys exterior or gorrila wood glue) as well but the 100ml above is the cheapest if it is good enough..

Hello @mariuh
I have used https://www.bunnings.com.au/selleys-100ml-aquadhere-pva-wood-glue-interior-adhesive-100ml_p1230622 in my assembly projects and it is a very good adhesive. Between toothpicks and the https://www.bunnings.com.au/4mm-x-1-2m-eucalyptus-grandis-dowel_p0497553 , I recommend using the dowel instead. The dowel can be trimmed using an ordinary Stanley knife.
Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves and goggles when trimming the dowel.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi @EricL
Can you recommend the best budget friendly stanley knife I can use?
I recommend looking at the https://www.bunnings.com.au/stanley-compact-fixed-blade-folding-knife_p0519510 . This knife features a metal body for durability and is designed to easily unfold and secure in place with a liner lock.
