How to fix hose reel on brick wall?

i was going to install Hose Reel on the wall, used the installation kits provided by the supplier and drill the 12mm hole and 50mm depth as per instruction. The anchor is fit in perfectly, however the screw is spinning forever . After i put the hose reel on, the screw will fall out (plug is fine). Not sure what is the issue of it. Need some advise.

Are you finding that some of the screws hold, while others don't?

Based on your photos, it looks like you have done everything correctly to make things work, which makes me think the issue is that you have bricks with hollows in them, like this one below. If you're finding some hold well while others don't, then it might be that some are going through solid brick, while the others are finding the hollows in the brick.

If there is a hollow in the brick, then the plug will expand, but there won't be anything there for it to expand against and create the friction needed to hold it in place. Since you've stated the screw is spinning, this seems likely to me.

The solution in situations where you need to anchor to a hollow brick is to use Chemset UltraFix Plus with Ramset Multifit Sieves and Ramset M8 x 110mm Galvanised Anchor Studs. The U,ltrafix, combined with the Multifit Sieves will create a chemical anchor that spreads out inside the hollow of the brick, filling it and locking it in place. Then, the anchor studs are rotated into the Multifit Sieves and the nut is wound over the anchor stud to hold the hose reel in place.

1. Thanks Jacob, the 1 of bottom screws is tight. I do feel there is a hold in the brick. While i was drilling the hold, only about 10mm depth, i can feel i reach the hole as i do not even drill the depth reach immediately to about 50mm.

i use the suggest chemset anchor? What size drill do i need use to make the hole?

2. i bought the hollow wall anchor couple days ago, will this work? I am afraid if it is not working that i cannot pull the plug out the hole

Hi @cc1,

Based on that description, I'd say you've hit a hollow in the brick.

Unfortunately, those hollow wall anchors are unlikely to work. They are designed to pull against the back of flat sheet materials that are between 6-16mm thick, like plasterboard or fibre cement, not the rounded cavity inside a brick.

The Chemset anchor will give you much more certainty that it will work. They require a 16mm pilot hole as shown at the 0:55 point of the Ramset™ UltraFix PLUS Polyester Anchoring Kit video.
