How to install front fence gate on slope?

Good evening, 

Between the gate and gate post on the latch side of my front fence gate i have an uneven gap.At the top is 10mm and it gets progressively wider as it gets to bottom of gate where the gap between gate and post is 30mm.I was thinking using thin sheet metal about 1mm thick to screw on to front of gate post to cover the gap so it's hidden when gate is closed as that would aesthetically neat.Any thoughts or other solutions that would also solve problem and look neat and tidy.Also my fence and gate and posts are metal.

Is it possible to get some photos of the gap so we can better see what we are working with? Let me know if you need a hand uploading images, I am happy to help if required.

Considering there is a widening gap, this means that one or both of the posts are out of plumb. If there is any way we could bend the posts, perhaps using a ratchet strap off of a fixed point, this might be an option.

If not, then as long as there are suitable fixing points, cutting some sheet metal to size and shape, then attaching it with some screws would work.

When you say the fence and gate posts are metal, what type of metal are they?

We need to be careful to use the same type of metal, because different metals can react with each other and cause a phenomenon known as galvanic corrosion. Simply put, if your fence posts are aluminium, use aluminium; if the fence posts are steel, use steel.
