Hi,
I observed this small chip on the bench-top. In order to avoid this getting any bigger, any suggestions would be appreciated to fill/ fix this.
thanks
Hi @viha,
Chips like the one you are seeing do not usually get worse on their own. Chips tend to be single-impact damage that stays as it is. It is cracks that typically spread over time because of movement, pressure, or temperature changes. If the benchtop has not cracked and is simply missing a small fragment, it is unlikely to grow unless another impact occurs.
There is no off-the-shelf product I can confidently recommend for repairing that type of surface. DIY fillers are generally far more noticeable than the chip itself, and they do not strengthen the area in any meaningful way. They can also draw attention to the repair, which can be frustrating once it is in place permanently.
If you would like the blemish repaired so it looks as close to original as possible, the best option is to contact a benchtop repair or stone restoration specialist. They have the tools, resins, tints, and polishing equipment needed to blend the repair properly. A professional repair is usually very hard to spot once completed, and it will be far stronger and neater than any DIY option.
If the chip is small and not in a high-stress area, leaving it as is is usually fine. If appearance matters or it begins showing signs of a crack forming, it is worth having a professional take a look.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
