How to install Mondello Rococo toilet seat hinges?

The screw for the toilet seat hinges appears to be too long for the hole in my ceramic toilet bowl meaning they cannot be inserted and screwed down to be flush with the toilet bowl rim. Is the best solution to cut the ends of the screw? Or will this compromise the hinge? Or can I leave the hinge raised like in the pic? (It seems wobbly though)

I also notice you sell other hinges that maybe have shorter screw and plastic plug that may fit better. The depth of the holes at the back of the ceramic bowl are only 32mm

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your toilet hinges.

The store does carry the Kinetic Toilet Seat Fixing Kit, but I am not sure if it is compatible with the Mondella Rococo toilet seat. The plastic plug you currently have must technically settle flat onto the surface of the toilet seat bowl. When the screw is tightened you should not in essence be able to pull the plastic plug up from its location. I propose testing the Kinetic toilet seat fixing kit and see if it will work with the Mondella Rococo seat. If it does, you can try using it for your toilet bowl.

Other than that, I can only suggest looking for the original brand of the toilet and see if you can source an original seat for your toilet.

Thanks Eric. Yes I think the lesson for other readers is replacing a toilet seat with a different brand from the original is far from straightforward (as so many DIY articles and videoes imply) as there are many variables beyond the toilet seat shape and size that can become a barrier. Best to just source the exact same toilet seat you originally had as a replacement .
