How to tighten a shower head?

Hi, I am trying to work out how to tighten a hand-held shower head. The left-hand side of the shower head holder loosens and tightens so the height of the shower head can be adjusted. The right-hand side of the mechanism turns both clockwise and anti-clockwise but no matter which way I screw it, I cannot tighten the holder to keep the shower head in place. Does anyone know if there is a trick to this? Maybe I need to buy a new mechanism? If this is the case, does anyone have hints as to how I remove the current mechanism to replace it?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your shower head.

I propose taking the shower head with the hose off the holder. It's possible that inside the holder you will see a stainless-steel Philips screw. I suggest getting a Philips screwdriver and tightening that screw, but please be aware that the fitting is only plastic and you want the screw firm but not overly tight. Once the screw is tight return the shower head to the holder and tighten the fitting normally with the switch on the left. It should be firm now and the head angel adjustable.

However, if slider is still loose and does not function properly, I propose looking at the Estilo Chrome Shower Rail Slider or the evekare 32mm Chrome Shower Slider as possible generic replacements.

Hi Eric, thank you so much for the quick reply. you were correct, When I lowered the holder down to eye level II could see that there was a screw inside. I gently tightened it but the knob on the left-hand side fell off into my hand and I can see that the plastic bracket inside has actually snapped 🙁 Is there an easy way to remove the holder so I can replace it with a new one

Hi @KasM,

To remove the holder, you would likely have to unscrew the rail attachment post at the top, then remove it so you can slide the holder up and off the rail.

If you look at the rail attachment post at the top, you can see there is a seam, which indicates there is a cap.

If you pop this cap off, using a narrow tool like a flathead screwdriver or chisel, it should reveal a screw that you can remove. This should allow you to slip the rail out of the post and then move the slider up off the rail.

You can then replace the slider with a suitable replacement shower rail slider.
