How to fix outdoor tap?

The tap outside of the house used to run water smoothly . I had my tap changed a couple of month ago and then the water coming out in a circle/ splash pattern, as attached. Could I ask how to fix it? Is it due to the tap which was replaced not fit

Hi @qq,

I would assume the issue would be resolved simply by removing the plastic hose adapter from the tap. Please let us know if that doesn’t solve it.

@Jason That makes it worse , Jason . The water is splashing everywhere without hose.

Assuming the tap was changed by a plumber I would contact that person to fix the issue.

If you take the hose adaptor off and look down into it, is there anything blocking the flow of water?

When you took the hose adaptor off, was the water still spraying out in that circular shape?

If you increase or decrease the flow of water, does the shape of the spray change?

These questions might help to narrow down the cause of the issue. I suspect there could be some plumbing debris or a poorly seated washer that is causing turbulence in the flow of water. If you remove the tap adaptor and inspect inside it, see if there is a washer that is not sitting correctly or if there are any metal burrs. If you find anything, flush the tap adaptor out to remove debris and reseat the washer.

While the tap adaptor is off, check if there is anything blocking the flow at the tip of the tap. Again, some plumbing debris, such as metal burrs or thread seal tape, could be blocking the flow a bit. If you find anything, remove it and test.

Unfortunately, if the issue is with the tap itself, you would need to speak with the plumber who installed it.
