When to oil new Merbau deck?

Hi,

I have just laid a new deck from Bunnings 90x19 pre oiled Merbau decking.

My question is , can I apply a Feast Watson Merbau decking oil straight away or do I have to wait until all the tannins have leeched out and if so how long does this take.

On the products Bunnings page it says it can be applied straight away ??.

I have just read a related post here which says either use a timber prep to remove the tannins or wait eight weeks. My question has been answered.

Apologies for the delay in response. Yes, what you have read is correct in that you'll either need to wait around 8 weeks for the tannins to leach naturally, or use a product like Cabot's New Timber Prep to speed up the process.
