What trim for tiled wall in laundry?

Hi there,

I have just tiled the laundry wall above the the bench with some white subway tiles.

It's all dry now and I want to put in a trim at the top of the tile edge (including tile its 1cm from the wall)

I don't think I"ll be able to retrofit a bullnose trim as the grout is dry and it wouldn't fit in?

What other options do I have?

Hi @phillipc,

It would be really helpful if you could add some pictures to the discussion so we can better understand what you need to achieve and any complications in the area. From your description, it’s a little hard to visualise exactly where and how you want the trim to sit. Apart from bullnose tile trims, another option is aluminium tile trims, which are often used to finish off edges. If you can upload a few images showing the area, that will give a lot more context. Let me know if you need a hand getting the images uploaded.

So, the adhesive will prevent the insertion of an aluminium bullnose @phillipc. In this case, you'd need to take a multi-purpose tool and cut down behind the tile to remove the adhesive in that area, so the trim can be inserted. Alternatively, you could cut off the trim tab typically inserted under the tile and adhere it with silicone or construction adhesive.

Too easy - I have a multi tool, is there a special attachment I need for it?

You'd want a diamond-tipped grout-removal blade, @phillipc. You might have got one with the tool if you're lucky. You could potentially use the standard saw blade bit, but it likely won't last long on the cement-based adhesive.
