How to seal around shower door?

Hi DIY experts!

Our shower has a glass door with a big gap underneath it. Not sure how to seal properly - we've tried fitting a bottom seal strip (pictured) but still leaks heavily into the bathroom. I suspect water is dripping under the seal strip (through the grout lines) and in the gap around the hinges. What do we need to do? 🙂

Hi @HopeIsNotAStrat,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

You can attach a Sandleford 12 x 1000mm Clear Shower Floor Channel to the hob beneath the shower door, then seal the bottom edge to the tile. When the existing seal closes against this floor channel, it would stop the majority of water from getting underneath the door seal.

You can also attach this Sandleford 10 x 2200mm Square Rear Door Seal or a similar seal if your glass is thinner, to the back side of the glass panel adjacent to the door, so that when it swings closed, it will close against that seal.

With both of these products, you'll want to give them a good clean and allow them to fully dry before attaching them with clear silicone.

Actually, on second thought -- if the existing seal is on the inside of the door and the floor channel is applied to the tile like that, how would the door close? (Assuming the door opens outwards, wont the existing seal just get stuck against the floor channel when I try and close the door?)

The channel would go on the non-opening side @HopeIsNotAStrat. Does your door open inwards or outwards? In the picture, it's opening inward, and in this configuration, it would hit the channel, preventing the door from opening. If the door could be opened outwards, the channel should work.
