How to prepare plywood for sleeping platform?

I am building a sleeping platform in the back of my car for car camping. I have 12mm Marine Grade plywood that is a little worse for wear (but got it at a great discount!)

 

I need recommendations for supplies, steps and products to prepare the plywood for waterproofing. I need something easy to apply, no odour once set/cured, and wont go sticky or need constant top ups (maybe yearly but not more often).

If your plywood is going to sit inside the back of a car @learningDIYer, there’s really no need for full waterproofing, because it won’t be exposed to rain or constant moisture. For general water resistance, say, from spills or damp camping gear, you can simply seal it with a water-based enamel paint. This will soak into the plywood just enough to protect it, is easy to apply with a brush or roller, dries with no odour, won’t go sticky, and is very durable under knocks and general use. Once it’s cured, it won’t need regular maintenance, maybe a refresh after several years if it starts to look worn.

If you were planning to leave it exposed to rain or in a ute tray, then you’d want a proper exterior or marine-grade varnish, which is more resilient against prolonged moisture. But for a sleeping platform inside a car, the enamel paint route is simple, effective, and low-fuss.
