How to dog-proof fence?

Hello, we have a new puppy, we are unsure exactly how big he will get but want to dog proof our fence so eventually we can get a dog door and not worry about him escaping. 

We have a timber wooden fence and one half of it has  

alot of gaps at the bottom. Any ideas?

The simplest and most effective way to dog-proof the bottom of your fence is to add a timber plinth along the base. A treated pine fence plinth fixed horizontally along the inside of the fence will cover the gaps between the palings and the ground, creating a solid barrier that your puppy won’t be able to squeeze under.

It should be fairly straightforward to attach, just fix it securely to the bottom of the existing fence between the posts with treated pine screws and make sure it sits close to the soil. Once in place, you can paint or stain it to match your fence so it blends in nicely. This gives you a durable, physical barrier and will make adding a dog door in the future much easier without worrying about escapes.
