How to fix incomplete pool decking?

Hi, 

Some suggestions pls. We have the end of a  pool decking that has been incomplete since we purchased our property yrs ago. The decking is suppose to bud up against a garden bed. Once it's sealed, we can fill in with soil and complete our garden bed. What is the best way to seal up the  ends so we can add soil  - in terms of what materials and how and where to secure it to the deck? Is it a diy job or should I get someone else to help? Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

As the intention is to both cap off the deck and retain soil, this means whatever you use will be in direct contact with the ground. In this situation, your best option is to use sleepers, which are designed for use in direct contact with the soil and are often used as retaining structures for holding back soil.

Looking at how much of a gap there is beneath the deck, there is a good chance you will have to dig out some clearance to get the sleepers in place. Once this is done, you should be able to screw them to the framing beneath the deck using long landscape screws such as these Bremick XTP 18g x 150 T40 Technoguard Landscape Screws.

If the sleepers need some additional support, or some gaps can't be spanned between the bearers, then you can also use sleeper pegs to help support the sleepers.

This is a relatively simple job and there is no real reason you'd need to get assistance.
