We live in a rented Queenslander. During the summer months, my bedroom becomes almost uninhabitable and is consistently up to ten degrees hotter than the rest of the house. There is no air conditioning in my bedroom. If I seal up the living room and leave my bedroom door open, I do find some relief from the extreme heat. The sun literally bakes my side of the house all day, and you can feel the heat coming off the window if you get too close.
Would installing an awning or shade cloth help with the temperature, and are there renter-friendly options? As I mentioned before, this is a Queenslander, meaning once you're outside, the window is quite high.
As I write this post, the outside temperature is 29, but the temperature inside my bedroom is 36. It reached 40 the other day. I couldn't go in my room. Please help, slowly boiling.
