How to build a benchtop for small laundry reno?

Helloooo. I have a small apartment and my laundry looks terrible. I’m thinking to build a bench top and a cabinet/shelves in between of the washing machine and sink. Also adding a cabinet or open shelves on top of the sink. Anyone has an idea how can I build a simple, cost effective and relatively easy to build bench top/shelves? Pic for reference.
