How to update pebble path?

When we bought our home 1.5 years ago the path was beautiful pristine white pebbles, but now lots of bits of dirt, weeds, leaves get in there.

We are thinking to use a resin based bond to mix the pebbles with and lay back down. Would we take out all these pebbles and start fresh after cleaning them and relaying down? Also what products are there in Australia that do this? Every video I find is products from America and very exxy!

Anyone down this kind of project before? Many thanks!!

I’m not aware of any pebble-bonding products for DIY use other than landscape-lock–style concentrates. The resin-based systems you see online are usually proprietary products, often aimed at commercial or professional installs, and I don’t have any direct experience with them or knowledge of locally available DIY versions.

What Bunnings stocks is landscape lock concentrate, designed to help hold pebbles in place rather than fully bonding them into a solid surface. It won’t stop fine dirt or organic matter from building up over time, but it can reduce movement and make the area easier to maintain. You could also spray the bark on the sides of the pebbles to lock it in place and prevent it from blowing out over the pebbles. Once the pebbles and bark are locked in place, you could then use a blower on the surface to remove debris.

If you were to use a product like that, you’d get the best result by lifting the pebbles, cleaning out weeds and debris, tidying up the base, then relaying the pebbles before applying the lock. Spraying it onto an already dirty or unstable surface generally won’t yield a good long-term result.
