How to clean rust and grease from gas cooktop burner and electric oven?

Hi,

I have removed the burner cap and base from the gas cooktop, but there is still very stubborn grease stuck to the stainless steel surface around the burner opening and fire hose. I am trying to clean it up completely without damaging the burner fittings. I have tried so far using wet toothbrush and Dish soap warm water.

Also,want to clean the inside of my electric oven which includes burnt-on grease at the same time.

Hi @Tann,

For the stubborn grease around the burner opening, Bar Keepers Friend is a great option. It’s gently abrasive, so when you work it in with your toothbrush it helps break down those hardened deposits without damaging the burner fittings. Just be careful to keep it away from the stainless-steel cooktop surface, as too much abrasion can dull the finish.

For your oven, I’d recommend Selleys 400g Oven Plus Heavy Duty Cleaning Gel. It’s excellent at breaking down baked‑on grease and carbon build‑up. You can also use a small amount of this gel inside the burner area if needed, just take extra care not to get it on the surrounding stainless steel as it may cause discolouration.
