How to I fix and paint rendered poles?

Hello community! Recently purchased our first home. I want to refresh these two outdoor poles that are out of front door. I want it to match the existing colour of the house in the background. How can I fix the cracks at the bottom of the poles and repaint?

If the render is generally in good condition and the issue is limited to the cracking around the base, this is a fairly straightforward repair. You can repair the cracks by following the steps in the How to repair rendered wall guide, which covers cleaning out the cracks, applying a suitable repair mortar or render patch, and smoothing it off so it blends with the existing surface.

Once the repairs have fully cured, you can repaint the columns to match the house. Make sure the surface is clean and dry, then apply a quality exterior paint designed for masonry and rendered surfaces, such as Dulux Weathershield. Using a good exterior paint will help protect the render from moisture and movement and keep the finish looking good for years to come.
