How to attach dashcam to windscreen?

How can I refix my dashcam to the windscreen. I live in extreme heat and everything I tried failed.

My dashcam has been on my windscreen for a few years but the glue has melted. I have tried several times to reattach it but the heat make it slide off. What is the best tape etc to reattach it.

In extreme heat, standard double-sided tape will almost always fail, especially on a windscreen where temperatures can exceed 60°C inside the car. The adhesive softens, and the weight of the dashcam causes it to slowly slide down the glass.

The most reliable solution is to use Scotch-Mount Extreme Double-Sided Mounting Tape 2.5cm x 1.5m, specifically the type designed for exterior use. This tape is made to withstand high temperatures and UV exposure and is commonly used to hold heavier items, so it performs much better than general-purpose double-sided tape.

Before applying it, preparation is key. Completely remove all old adhesive from both the windscreen and the dashcam mount. A plastic scraper and isopropyl alcohol will help clean the glass properly. The surface must be spotless with no residue, dust or oils, or the new adhesive won’t bond well. Once cleaned, apply the tape to the mount, press it firmly onto the windscreen, and apply steady pressure for 30–60 seconds. Ideally, let it cure for several hours (or overnight) before reattaching the camera so the bond can properly set.

If heat continues to be an issue, another very secure alternative is a suction mount designed for high-temperature use. Though, I've found in extreme heat, they will still fall off occasionally.
