leather tear, a few of them, 2cm to 32cm long. how to secure this back together? what is the best product?
Hello @st22
I propose wiping the surface with DIGGERS 125ml Isopropyl Alcohol - 125ml and a paper towel, this will remove any oil or grease deposits near the torn section. Re-align the torn section as best as you can, then cover the damaged area with long strips of T-Rex 48mm x 9.1m White Ferociously Strong Duct Tape. I recommend making sure that the strips overlap one another so that they support each other. Please note that this is a temporary fix and eventually you'll need to have the sofa re-upholstered. But, in the meantime, the duct tape will prevent any further damage from spreading.

Ok thanks.
Why is the leather so brittle?
Could I treat all other surface with something that makes it stronger to avoid additional tear?
It is the nature of leather products that after some time it begins to deteriorate. Its fibres become brittle the surface begins to crack, and this is where the damage begins. You can use leather conditioners and cleansers, but this will only extend the leathers service life for so long. Eventually it will get old and it will need to be replaced.
