How to fix a Caroma toilet leaking into bowl?

Hi.

I have a very old Caroma toilet..Its difficult to make out the type on the label, and possibly your guess is much better than mine (pic provided)..My guess is that the label says Caroma something Diamond ?

Anyway, the water from the cistern has been leaking into the toilet bowl..My neighbour slowed the water flow down considerably, but the water now slowly drips into the bowl instead. .So I need to get that fixed asap..By hopefully just getting some new seals to hopefully stop the water flow ?, or getting a new internal mechanism if that's possible for this cistern,  or possibly purchasing a whole new cistern that will fit..Whether Caroma parts or not.. I wouldn't think just a cistern would cost as much as a new toilet.?

Advice please ?

Hi @Catol,

For the inlet valve, it is often easier to remove and replace the entire thing with a new Fluidmaster Bottom Entry Toilet Inlet Valve rather than try to work out how to remove and replace the washer from your old valve. When you throw that the inlet valve itself could be faulty in the mix, rather than just the washer, replacing it makes sense.

It's fantastic to hear that you've narrowed it down to the inlet valve. You can now remove yours, head in store, match it up with a replacement and then swap it out.

Thanks for your reply/info..I have read the guide on "How to fix a leaking toilet", and have found that the  leak stops when the cistern tap is turned off, so it appears that the leak is coming from the inlet valve..So I will follow as much of that basic info that I can, and possibly guess the rest is necessary, and hope it all works out with my  old cistern setup. .Thats providing I can get an inlet valve and rubber to fit my own cistern. ..
